Dancing Bunny Farm

Our dream has been to move to Vermont and start a small farm. We wanted to grow healthy food, work with nature and feed people. In August of 2023 we finally made the move out of CT, but it wasn't until the following June of 2024 when we rented a 1790's farmhouse in Middlebury, VT.

We've spent the past couple of years getting to know the land, improving the soil, creating new growing spaces and seeing what grows best here.

We try to follow Natural Farming practices and Permaculture techniques as much as possible. We turn the soil using a broad fork instead of heavy tilling, we don't use chemical fertilizer, and we see weeds as part of the ecosystem. We try to do a closed-loop system by composting garden waste and food scraps. We plant perennials, try to work with nature - not against it, and use companion planting.

We are working to open up the Farm Stand in Spring of 2027!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Our Flemish Giant rabbit Trixie, the farm mascot.

How we came up with the farm name:

When we were trying to come up with a name for the farm we kept coming back to the word abundance - an ample quantity, plenty, the opposite of scarcity. We believe there should be an abundance of healthy food for everyone. No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, and we want to be part of the solution.

We broke down the word abundance and saw A BUN DANCE or A Bunny Dancing which became Dancing Bunny. The spiritual meaning of rabbit is new beginnings, rebirth, abundance & luck, and facing fear. This is a new beginning for us and we are facing our fears by jumping into this endeavor. The name Dancing Bunny Farm seemed to fit perfectly.
